In PROFINET-based systems, the PN220 acts as a fieldbus coupler. It integrates sensor signals into the PROFINET network in a structured manner and makes them available to the higher-level control system as process data. This creates a clear interface between the signal level and the bus system – especially when expanding existing machine structures. Once process data is available in the network, it can not only be processed, but also displayed directly and decentrally with motrona fieldbus indicators. The touchMATRIX® fieldbus indicator is integrated into the network as a participant and visualizes cyclically transmitted process values directly on site.
This creates a consistent concept: Signals are integrated into the network via a fieldbus coupler, processed within the control system, and, if required, visualized directly via motrona fieldbus indicators such as PN350 or EC350 – depending on whether the system architecture is based on PROFINET or EtherCAT. Fieldbus and remote I/O thus merge into an integrated solution in which communication, signal processing, and visualization are consistently carried out via the network.
For plant manufacturers and system integrators, this means fewer interfaces, consistent data management, and an architecture that can be easily adapted to different fieldbus standards—without media breaks between signal recording, control, and display.
